What this is built from
Public information. Every figure carries the source it came from.
The sources
| Source | What it supplies |
|---|---|
| ACRE’s network map and county pages | Which members there are, the counties each serves, and their websites and postcodes. |
| Office for National Statistics, Rural Urban Classification 2021 | Whether each neighbourhood (LSOA) is urban or rural, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. |
| Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, English indices of deprivation 2025 | The mid-2022 population of each neighbourhood, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. |
| Charity Commission for England and Wales | What each charity is for, who for and how, where it says it operates, and its latest income, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. |
| Companies House | Legal form and company type, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. |
| Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government | The English indices of deprivation 2025, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. |
| Office for National Statistics | Which area a postcode is in, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. |
What the register cannot say
35 of the 37 ACRE Network members belong to a charity on the register for England and Wales. The rest are named differently on the map and on the register and are left unmatched rather than guessed at.
What this will not do
- It does not contact anybody. Nothing here has been sent to any of the ACRE Network members.
- No telephone numbers, no personal email addresses and no full postcodes. Each one’s own website is here, because a website is a route to an organisation.
- Nothing is scored and nobody is ranked. There is no good and bad one on this site, and no figure here is divided by any one charity’s income or the people it works with.
- No claim wider than what was counted. “Neither record shows an ACRE Network member here” is a fact about two records. “Villages here have no support” is a claim about the world, and nothing here is in a position to make it.
How current this is
Nothing here is typed in or kept up by hand. Every page is produced from the sources above, and carries the date it was made. The rural classification is ONS’s 2021 one, the population mid-2022; the map was read the day this was made.
