What this is built from

Public information. Every figure carries the source it came from.

The sources

What the register cannot say

18 of the 19 open Youth Zones belong to a charity on the register for England and Wales. Any left are not on the register under a name OnSide gives them, and are left unmatched rather than guessed at.

What this will not do

  • It does not contact anybody. Nothing here has been sent to any of the open Youth Zones.
  • No telephone numbers, no personal email addresses and no full postcodes. Each one’s own website is here, because a website is a route to an organisation.
  • Nothing is scored and nobody is ranked. There is no good and bad one on this site, and no figure here is divided by any one charity’s income or the people it works with.
  • No claim wider than what was counted. “Neither record shows a Youth Zone here” is a fact about two records. “Young people here have nowhere to go” is a claim about the world, and nothing here is in a position to make it.

How current this is

Nothing here is typed in or kept up by hand. Every page is produced from the sources above, and carries the date it was made. The count of young people is from census day, 21 March 2021; the spending is from the latest year councils have reported; OnSide’s pages were read the day this was made.
